SWOT Analysis:

Knowing one's strengths and weaknesses can help an individual to utilise one's talents to the full extent. With the same objective, SWOT analysis of myself is conducted based on insights from MindTools (2019). 

Strengths: 

  • My first strength is my ability to handle pressure: I have identified that I can work in stressful situations without getting upset and getting panicked (or panicking others).
  • My second strength is my ability to agree and relate with others: Although I am a reserved person and prefer to work alone, however, I am equally comfortable working in a noisy environment. 
  • My third strength is my ability to respect deadlines: I can complete the assigned tasks on time. Also, I can make others work when working in a team. 

Weaknesses:

  • My first weakness is my tendency to overestimate myself, which has often resulted in many tasks having bad outcomes. 
  • My second weakness is that I am judgmental of others, which results in me making my perception about others which may or may not be true.
  • My third weakness is that despite me being able to handle pressure, I get frustrated if things do not go as I planned- An example: there have been several instances when my supervisor did not appreciate my efforts, even though I was expecting the same. This resulted in me getting frustrated.  

Opportunities: Given my strengths and weaknesses I feel that there are multiple opportunities for me ahead in my life.  

  • The first opportunity which I feel I might get in my life is that I should be able to get leadership opportunities in the organisation, I am associated with. I am hopeful that I would be given leadership based on me being a natural leader.
  • The second opportunity which I am hopeful for is to be able to leverage my cross-cultural learnings (me being a Saudi national, studying in Australia) to be able to coordinate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds. 

Threats: Given my strengths and weaknesses I feel that there are some threats for me which I must manage:

  • The first aspect which may become a threat for me in future is my constant need for being appreciated. I fear that it might make me competitive in an unnecessary manner, thereby ruining my relationships with my colleagues.
  • The second aspect which may become a threat for me in future is me being judgmental of others as it may ruin my relationship with my colleagues.
