REFLECTION ON SOUND & IMAGE - ASSIGNMENT SOLUTION

  1. Reflective Writing

Moon, Jennifer, A. (2004) A Handbook of reflective and experiential learning: theory and practice, P. 184-189. New York: RoutledgeFalmer.

There are a few points that IO have observed from the readings. Reflective writing is a method of self-improvement. It allows us to reflect on what has happened around us and reflect on it with a critical lens. This kind of writing is not to merely mention events and activities or summarize what we read or see, but it involves reflecting on what we felt about them, what we were aiming for and what we have accomplished and most importantly, what can we improve. Reflective writing is to work towards positive change. It allows us to reflect on our own activities and helps us better understand our self. This reminds me of something I learnt back in a counselling session. It is always encouraged by counselors to maintain a journal of daily activities and reflect upon those activities. It allows us to identify our strength and weaknesses, some which we may never be familiar with, and helps us become the better versions of ourselves.

Assumptions are the key points when it comes to reflective writing.  Assuming outcomes and results help us better prepare for what is coming. Although it is often argued that assuming thing about people can be wrong, it made me realize that assuming things can make us better prepared in handling challenges us they come through. Assumptions make better strategies. When we predict and assume the worst possible case scenarios, we are better able to strategies ourselves to the maximum efficiency. Self-reflection also allows us to better understand where and how we are assuming.  This is very important in the role of a producer. As a producer running a crew, assuming where things can go wrong and timelines can be pushed forward is very important. This is where a producer can be better ready to handle situations.

  1. Goals from the Course

With this course, I am looking forward to learning the established methods of media production and the various techniques that support them. If we look around us, from apps to televisions to films as well we video games, media is used and needed everywhere.

Studying this course will enable me to understand in detail about how a media piece is produced and what are the requirements and tools that are needed to work into producing great media. Although media is spread around us in every form, from advertising to films, quality media is still found less than often. It is a true art, I believe, to eb able to produce media that brings together the various components of sounds, color, image etc all while demonstrating the objective behind the media.
