Ideally, select an organisation where you currently work or have worked for in the past or an organisation that you would like to work for in the future. Your organisation may be nationally based, international, government, not-for-profit or even the family business. You may have worked at this organisation as a full time or part time employee, as a contractor or volunteer. Alternatively, the organisation you select may just be where you would like to work next. There are no parameters concerning your selection. Conduct research into your organisation and describe the context of the organisation you have selected, including the nature of the industry, the level of competitiveness within the industry, the key external stakeholders and the current trends in the industry. Note: Please do not divulge any confidential information about your organisation. Apply a pseudonym to the organisation for the purpose of the essay. Any information that is not publicly available for which you have consent to use (for example, at your current workplace) should be de-identified so that there is no recognisable reference to the actual organisation name (e.g. instead of say a Bank you work for, refer to the organisation as ‘Financial Institution 1’), its employees or stakeholders. Step 2: Analysis . This part is the analysis of the problems. In this step you will analyse and in the next step you problem solve. Conduct a critical analysis of the five key HR issues relative to the chosen organisation. Conduct an analysis and synthesis of relevant literature relative to each of the five key HR issues and how they impact individual employee and organisational performance. You will need to use relevant models, theories and HRM literature to demonstrate how these issues affect individual and organisational performance. You will need to apply and reference one the following analysis maps/models: CIPD Map/Model Step 3: Connected - problem solving (CG3). This is about problem solving. In the previous step you analysed the five HR issue and in this step you problem solve. In this step you provide advice, solutions and recommendations to the organisation on how they could improve the effect of HRM on individual employee and organisational performance, given what you know about the organisation, industry and the five issues you have identified. Your solutions and recommendations should include the application of theory and link to high quality academic material about how to collaborate with diverse, multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams to solve complex problems. Step 4: Ethical Global Citizens (AoL CG1) and Conclusion - Students will apply ethical reasoning related to the five key HR issues in the context of the chosen organisation. This will require ethical reasoning about ethical principles. Apply ethical reasoning as to why the organisation should be concerned about ethics related to the five key HRM issues. This is about differentiating between right thinking and thinking that is wrong and making the best decisions for employees and the organisation. An example may be if you select ‘discrimination’ as one of the five key HR issues. You would consider the ethical issues here related to organisations allowing discrimination to happen in the workplace and those organisations that take a proactive approach to mitigate discrimination. The latter is making the right decisions. You will write a conclusion to the essay. Step 5: You are expected to include a minimum of 15 refereed journal articles references that are no older than 10 years. Over and above the 15 refereed journal articles you may use no more than 3 quality news articles that may relate to the five key HR issues. Ensure you have applied quality in-text references and reference list in Harvard style. Your grammar, syntax and spelling should be of high quality.
