There was no theft involved in this case. 3.Dr. Morehouse employs a janitorial service that supplies him with discarded patient information from other facilities where they work. He then uses the information to submit claims for psychiatric services. This is medical identity theft as the doctor is using the patient information to submit claims. 4.A hacker enters your IT system and changes the blood type for every patient. This is not identity theft. Instead this is malicious attack and done to tarnish the image of the hospital.
