Soft Skills Development: The soft skill development is an ability that has proved to be of great importance over the years. Be it in any field of the study or any learning experience. Soft skills are also referred to as interpersonal skills, these deal with the skills of a person to interact, communicate and organize oneself. The specialty of these skills is that they are a need of not only career paths but also for the successful personal life of an individual (Crosbie, 2005). The importance of soft skills does not at any point compensate for the hard skills however, they are an extra push that an individual need to perform exceptionally well. The lack of interpersonal skills would hinder a person reaching his full potential.

Rationale for Using ICT and/or Digital Delivery

The usage of soft skills supports the for the importance of learning soft skills. The traditional knowledge delivery puts the learner at a disadvantage in the sense that it is costly for the students also it is more time consuming. So, the inclusion of ICT in the learning process is the best way to compensate for the opportunity cost.

Learning is a key process that is on a continuous spectrum, and it keeps evolving. The adaptation of ICT in learning is a major leap for education in the technologically advanced world. Still, the world has witnessed the application of the traditional learning theories with the same spirit like they have always been. Some key theoretical perspective of learning and their alignment with ICT and learning of soft skills is discussed as following:

Behaviorism Theory

One of the key learning theories is behaviorism, it is the idea that reinforcement pays a key role in the learning of an individual (Ritzhaupt and Kumar, 2015). The way a behavior is reinforced, its existence and usage are dependent upon that. In the current modes of teaching, where ICT plays a key role in the learning process, behaviorism is implemented through the instructional software and computer assisted instructions, there are also drill and practice tutorials, these can be modified with individual instructions and one on one feedback.

Constructivism Theory

The role of constructivism in learning has been widely accepted, these theories lay base for the curriculum developments. The use of constructivism in learning has been mainly shifted towards the problem-solving approach. The use of constructivism theory in ICT can be seen when the software are developed on the interactive problem-based environment in which the student is considered as the key source (Aksal, 2008). One key feature of implementing technology tools in the learning process is that the source of learning can be altered as per the needs of the learners. The relevance of these theories is more in today’s educational practices are source of motivation for students through the practical application of knowledge.
