Assessment task description:
- This is the fourth (4th) unit of assessment task student has to complete to be deemed competent in this unit of competency.
- The task consists of role play and report.
- The student must respond to all tasks and submit them to the Trainer/Assessor.
- Trainer/Assessor is required to provide the feedback within two weeks and notify students when results are available.
Applicable conditions:
- The role play is timed (10 to 15 minutes)
- The student must read and respond to all activities.
- The student must complete the task independently.
- No marks or grades are allocated for this assessment task. The outcome of the task will be Satisfactory or Not Satisfactory.
- Trainer /Assessor must assess student’s written skills and knowledge as he/she complete this assessment task.
- The trainer/assessor may ask the student relevant questions on this assessment task to ensure that this is his/her work.
Resubmissions and reattempts:
- Where a student’s answers are deemed not satisfactory after the first attempt, a resubmission attempt will be allowed.
- A student may speak to their Trainer/Assessor if student have any difficulty in completing this task and require reasonable adjustments (e.g. can be given as an oral assessment)
Location:
- This assessment task may be completed in a in a simulated environment at 401 Sussex Street, Sydney, NSW 2000.
Purpose of the assessment
The purpose of this assessment task is to assess the students in being able to promote prodcuts and services write complext documents independantly.
Instructions for students:
- It is expected of students to conduct role play within the designated timeline.
- Answers must demonstrate an understanding and application of relevant concepts, critical thinking, and good writing skills.
- The student must concise to the point and write answers according to the given word-limit to each question and do not provide irrelevant information.
- The student must not use non-discriminatory language. The language used should not devalue, demean, or exclude individuals or groups on the basis of attributes such as gender, disability, culture, race, religion, sexual preference or age. Gender inclusive language should be used.
- The assessor should not accept answers copied directly from texts without acknowledgement of the text.
How the trainer/assessor will assess the work?
- This assessment task requires the student to answer all the questions.
- Answers must demonstrate the student’s understanding and knowledge of the unit.
- If all assessment tasks are deemed Satisfactory (S), then the unit outcome is Competent (C).
- If at least one of the assessment task is deemed Not Satisfactory (NS), then the unit outcome is Not Yet Competent (NYC).
- Once all assessment tasks allocated to this Unit of Competency have been undertaken, the trainer/assessor will complete an Assessment plan to record the unit outcome. The outcome will be either Competent (C) or Not Yet Competent (NYC).
Benchmark for Assessment
- You are expected to respond to all aspects of each question and case study. In some cases, direction is provided on the expected length of your response. These assessments will require a Short, Medium or Long
- The following is a guide to the expected number of words for each of these categories unless otherwise indicated.
Instructions to students
This is a role-play activity where you are required to work in small groups and act as the WHS officer to demonstrate evidence of your ability to consult with key stakeholders. Your assessor will observe your interaction within the group and provide you with feedback.
- Role-play (10 to 15 minutes)
Scenario
You want to ensure that the WHS and Security system you have planned meets ongoing compliance and is in line with WHS legislation, codes of practice and standards. You have decided to meet with an WHS expert (your assessor) and discuss the following items. Your colleague will act as the WHS expert. Make notes prior to your meeting and discuss your notes with your assessor. Your assessor will then allocate another colleague to act as the WHS expert prior to you conducting your role play.
Once you have completed your role play, write a report recording your discussion. Your report must include the following. (LONG)
- How can you assess and maintain ongoing compliance with the WHS legislation and regulatory requirements, standards and codes of practice?
- How can you ensure that Why Cook’s policies, procedures and practices remain current and update with WHS legislation, regulatory requirements, standards and codes?
- When should Why Cook measure and evaluate the WHS and Security Management system to review its effectiveness and what tool could be used to measure performance?
- what actions could Why Cook take if an item in an action plan is not completed on time and what could be the possible implications for management of not meeting an action item completion date.
- Staff from Why Cook should contribute to the review and improvement of the WHS Management System. Write a short report explaining the following:
- Who should instigate the review?
- Explain Why should WHSMS need reviewing?
- What support do you think you could provide to stakeholders during the process of reviewing and improving the WHSMS? What actions could management take to promote consultation between all stakeholders and facilitates their input to the review process?
- Why Cook has casual staff from non-English speak backgrounds. Explain how could management assist individuals or groups of people who have special needs such as language barriers or physical impairment.
