You will have the opportunity to choose your team members in the 2.6 Discussion 2: Teaming up for Assignment 3. Once you have formed your team, you will be able to communicate using your Team discussion board for Assignment 3.

As a team, you may find it most effective to divide the work associated with producing this task. There are many ways this could be achieved, including:

• Allocating roles relating to the various components of the task, including project manager, researcher, connector, and specific people drafting specific sections.
• Determining which components of the task would benefit from overall team consultation, and which components can be completed independently, and working accordingly.
• You will also need to consider the best way to collaborate on the production of the final submission. It may be the case that a shared document that all team members can edit (through a format such as a Google Docs) is more effective than working on multiple Word documents that are distributed via email.

Whichever approach your team selects, please be aware that the overall result is shared equally between all team members. Therefore, it is your responsibility to ensure that team members are making a fair and equitable contribution to the work.

Operations management plan

This assignment assesses your knowledge about operations management (OM) and its implementation. In your team of consultants, you are required to provide Zimmer Biomet with your recommendations and justifications to develop a comprehensive Operations Management plan covering the following topics that are also contained in the Project Brief:

1. Define the operational performance objectives your firm wants to compete with: There must be consistency between your operational performance objectives and your OM plan. Also, how do you plan to measure them?
2. Product/service design: Describe the different stages associated with your (new) product design.
3. Process strategy and layout design: What (manufacturing) process strategy and layout options are more relevant for your product/service and why? Propose a process layout including important indicators such as cycle time and number of stages (show briefly how the indicators were obtained). Draw your layout.
4. Capacity and planning: How will you measure capacity, and what capacity strategy is more appropriate and why?
5. Inventory management: What inventory management strategy is more appropriate and why?
6. Quality management: What is your quality management strategy?
7. Supply chain management (SCM): What is an appropriate SCM strategy and why?
8. Sustainable operations: What operational strategy can you implement that contributes directly to sustainable outcomes and how would you measure it?

Explain each of the topics above and describe how these can be implemented for your product/service. For this, a literature review is required, including academic material to provide justification to why each topic is relevant for your product.
