Professional Development Portfolio - Assignment Solution

Answer 1:

The job that I would like to apply for after graduating is of Research Analyst. A research analyst is in charge of researching, examining, transcribing and presenting data associated with markets, operations, finance, economics, clients, and other data associated with the educational background they are interested in. A research analyst is naturally very quantitative, logical, rational, and good in handling numerical information and data.

Borrell (2002) in his paper critiques the research analyst in the field of investment banking. According to him the research analysts are the troublemakers who are mainly solely in charge for the Internet upsurge and wreckage ; the diversionist of the public's and, more importantly, recognized investors' confidence in investment banking; and a group of extremely overpaid amateurs that have, in the tired exaggeration of the last numerous years, become the superstars in the field of investment banking.

Answer 2:

I would like to apply for this job because of my interest in the field of research writing. Throughout my degree I have conducted detailed research regarding different subjects and courses and exploring different aspects of every course excites me. Through research, a person gets an understanding of new theories and concepts and they gain a vast knowledge of a particular subject. If a person applies for a position for economic research analyst then they would explore different mechanisms of economy and would recommend different policies for the betterment of the company or the country if hired in the public sector. When it comes to financial analyst then the analyst would analyze, interpret and forecast different models. A market research analyst would search the competent markets which could benefit the company and could bring profitable business to the company. All of these analysts have one thing in common researching and recommendation that all different fields of analyst would require extensive research and recommendation. Through recommendations, the analysts could have a say in the company’s decisions as on the bases of their research a company would make decisions. The role of the research analyst is crucial in any company as the analysts’ research can automatically change the company’s decision as the researchers have thoroughly researched every detail of a particular task given to them, the researchers also compare the data and information to correctly interpret and analyze the information and compile the research into a report which is helpful in understanding the particular topic and in decision making. The analysts also influence the media, in particular, the financial analysts as they write new products, any losses in a company or any other corporate actions (Brauer & Wiersema, 2017).

The economic analysts can in some way also influence media by the analysis report on different policies, theories or some economic crises in a company or a country. This shows how research analysts have an important role in a company and can influence vital decisions in a company.
