Ottawa Charter Assignment: Critical Analysis of a Health Promotion Program

You will synthesise information acquired from lecture material, recommended readings and your wider research to appraise this program's approach in relation to the question "Is this health promotion?".

Structure of your submission:

1. Introduction: Outline the focus of your report and the themes you will cover (approx. 50 words).
2. Describe how one of the following programs does and does not align with the Ottawa Charter's 5 key action areas and 3 basic strategies (approx. 600 words). Ensure key terms are well explained/defined and applied to demonstrate your understanding. Please select one of the following programs:
   • The Indigenous Eye Health Unit, presented by Emma Stanford and Carol Wynne (you may narrow to 'Clean faces strong eyes,' 'Check today see tomorrow' or 'Eyecare now, eyecare always' programs if desired)
   • Respect Victoria 'What kind of man do you want to be' campaign (or 'Call it out'), presented by Luke Butler
3. Critically analyse the program to answer "Is this health promotion?", using your understanding of health promotion from lecture material, recommended readings and wider research (approx. 300 words). In your response, you may consider any activities undertaken by the same organisation as supporting this program.
4. Conclusion: Summarise your discussion and key findings (approx. 50 words).
