FASHION from 90’s

When it comes to talk about Fashion and which year saw the most advancement in fashion than 1900s can be coined as the time of fashion rebellion. 90’s were the decade in which the Cold War ended, Nelson Mandela was released from prison and much other technological advancement was made. Out of which, the one major technological advancement was of the Internet. We all are well aware of the fact about how Internet has changed our lives and what role it has played in Fashion. 

One of the political event that took place and made major advancement in the fashion industry, was the signing of NAFTA trade agreement, as that allowed Mexico, Canada and US to trade good’s and services between each other. One can say that Fashion is an expression of cultural trends on many levels, that consist of genders, political and social statements. One of the major trend that has affected the fashion trend over the years, is the influence of celebrities. Hollywood stars have played a major role in helping people decide on what to wear and how to wear. In the 90’s there were many TV shows that got great success and many people followed the fashion that was shown in those TV Shows. For example one of my favourite movie from 90s is “10 Things I hate about you”, that showed a lot of camouflage. 

Similarly, a lot of other shows and movies made in 90’s had a significant affect on youngsters. Similar trend still in practice, whatever is shown in media is easily being followed by people of all ages. 

Grunge style was also one of the most popular fashion styles of 90’s, fuelled by the rebels of 90’s rock in the likes of Pearl Jam and Nirvana. Where people were convinced to wear grungy flannel, ripped jeans and anything available with studs. This fashion is still very common these days and a lot of youngsters, boys and girls can be seen dressing up as GRUNGY.
