Discuss this statement, using 2 companies that have either achieved or failed to deliver customer value via their chosen supply chain strategies. For the resit assignment, you must not use the same examples as you have in your first submission. Your selected companies need to be from different industrial sectors. 1. Provide a critical analysis of how effective supply chain strategies can deliver customer value in your selected companies. In other words, critically argue using literature, how your selected companies have delivered or failed to deliver customer value via their specific supply chain strategies. These strategies could be in the design, manufacturing, distribution, or retail of the product/service Your two cases are likely to be well know or high profile companies, e.g. Apple; Amazon.com, Caterpillar; Samsung Electronics, Tesco, BAe Systems etc, etc. They must come from different industrial sectors. 2. Short Conclusion of your findings. |

The learning outcomes focus on the theme of this module - competitive pressures for organizations to create and deliver value to customers through effective management of the supply chain. In particular, goals of service enhancement and cost reduction are explored through supply chain strategies, some of which will be based on concepts from lean and agile philosophies. |
Assessment criteria:
The students will be required to: Prepare an individual assignment (no shared work). Use SCM theory from course text, and the use of relevant Journal publications is essential. Full references and sources of all materials must be stated. Use the Harvard style of referencing. |
