The background of the situation

Strategy management can be seen as a tool which combined with qualitative and quantitative to guide to deal with issues (Zevenbergen & Thorne, 2010). For example, PESTEL and SWOT analysis would be the common analysis approach for strategy management. This report aims to the fermi problem with an international rescue to process a series of analysis. Fermi problems often refer to problems that cannot be accurately calculated, but can be simplified in a very direct, rather than rigorous, rational way, turning difficult problems into simple problems that are easy to deal with (Barringer & Neubaum, 2005). The main purpose of this paper is to solve a Fermi problem. In Bereschid, a small town in Morocco, where large numbers of people were trapped by the quake, International Rescue was unable to move them all out quickly, with up to 16,000 trapped. As a consequence, it is necessary to play the role of strategic management to arrange the various sub-plans reasonably, so as to achieve the purpose of transporting the trapped people out safely (Dowdall-Thomae, Culliney & Piechura, 2009). It is also necessary to ensure a normal diet of water, vegetables and protein of the trapped people (Bettis, et al., 2014).

The strategic intent of International Rescue

The development of strategic outlook, the establishment of the goal system, the implementation of the strategic plan, and the evaluation of performance, basically outlined the task of strategic management (Bititci, Suwignjo & Carrie, 2001). The organization handles the strategic management to help promote the work efficiency. International Rescue is an International Rescue organization whose aim is to help people affected by natural disasters or wars around the world within 72 hours. For this earthquake Rescue, International Rescue needs to do its utmost to rescue the trapped people, and its strategy intent is to optimize its arrangement with as little time and cost as possible, including the weight of food and water to be put in the disaster area, the most effective means of transportation and the arrangement of transferring people. Therefore, based on these strategic objectives, this paper provides a quantitative analysis for International Rescue.

The maximum weight of food required for the disaster zone

Because of the limitation of helicopters and disaster area, in the disaster areas there would be a helicopter parked only, which leads to the impossibility of transferring all out within 3 days, the International Rescue need to put food on a regular basis in the disaster areas, in order to prepare the food ahead of time, need to maximum demand by calculating the disaster area for food.
