Executive summary

Introduction

The operational process and supply chain systems of large organizations, today are more complex and robust. They involve complex business functions involving different departments, different types of people, information, and critical linkage with upstream and downstream partners. Where, research suggests that Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are the right solution to facilitate the information needs of many large businesses (Ali, & Miller, 2017). Similarly, in today's competitive manufacturing industry, effective resource management and process integration are essential for maintaining operational excellence. Since manufacturing sector productivity is a cornerstone of economic growth and competitiveness in the global market. So, the manufacturing processes need to be efficient and well-organized. They are based on sophisticated supply chain management (SCM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (Adenekan et al. 2024).

According to Adenekan et al. (2024). ERP systems are designed to provide an integrated platform that supports various business functions of manufacturing companies, including production planning, inventory control, order management, accounting, human resources, supply chain management, and, customer relationship management in a single system. This helps manufacturing companies to streamline multiple processes and information, across large organizations. Hence, the ERP system is said to be the backbone of modern manufacturing operations, which has improved overall efficiency, decision-making, and productivity (Adenekan et al. 2024).  Hence, large manufacturing enterprises need to choose the right ERP system and implement it effectively. This will have a significant impact on its productivity and market competitiveness. Therefore, this report aims to investigate the critical selection and implementation factors when choosing suitable ERP systems in large enterprises in the manufacturing industry. Additionally, the report will explore the complexities of migrating from traditional methods to cloud-based ERP solutions. Lastly, the report will also present a comparative analysis of suitable cloud ERP vendors (10 vendors).
