Randy Cochran Mark Gerberich Intro to Coaching September 16 2020 Coaching Style At this point in my life from the knowledge I know I would have a cooperative coaching style if I were to be a coach right now. I also believe if I pursue coaching in the future I would stick with this decision. A cooperative coaching style is a coach that shares the decision making with the athletes. They guide their players into becoming young adults by letting them make important decisions, but also take leadership when needed to, according to the book. I like this coaching style because it allows the team to become player lead, and in my opinion those are the most successful teams. They are also the most connected team, and obviously connection between a team is important. In my past experiences I have played for coaches with each coaching style, which is Command, Submissive, and Cooperative. Command style was very serious with very little room for error for me. Submissive was ver fun, but it was also very unorganized. Cooperative was almost a combination of the both. It was fun but also serious when needed to be. A cooperative coaching style can teach players life lessons along witn lessons involving sports. It teaches you how to work in a team in many different environments, which is important because certain professions involve team work. It feels better and brings more joy to the team when you work together and come out with a win, knowing that is was player driven. A difficulty with this style could possibly giving players to much leeway. A player could attempt to take advantage of the opportunity and try to put themselves before the team. This is where the authority of the coach would need to come in and sort the things out that needed to be.
