SECTION 3: CONSTRUCTIVE ALIGNMENT

Rationale for how assessment tests the achievement of the different learning outcomes
Assessment 1, requires students to be familiar with definitions and provide explanations of key ideas and issues in IP and the processes of commercialisation. Requiring that they describe and critically evaluate the pathways to commercialisation, discuss and critique the fundamental principles and processes of intellectual property and  critically review and synthesise national and international regulatory environments and legislation, assessment 1 ensures ULOs a. b. and c.  500 words each.

Assessment 2, requires students to identify the central issues in a case study and critically discuss the problems in the development of IP and the process of commercialisation and to propose solutions to the problems. To do so they must demonstrate that they can critically review and synthesise national and international regulatory environments and legislation for intellectual property management, analyse the processes and risks involved in the commercialisation process, identifying relevant and appropriate mitigation strategies and that they can outline, discuss and analyse the ethical issues raised by the processes of intellectual property and commercialisation. The assessment thus ensures ULOs c. d. & e. 1500 words.

Assessment 3, is an exam in which students will need to demonstrate all of the above through the process of applying theur knowledge of IP and commercialisation to critical analysis and problem solving. The exam thus ensures ULOs a. b. c. d. & e.
