BUSM4505 The Role of HRD in Mitigating Workplace Discrimination and Bullying

Introduction

This essay will be prepared by the Human Resource Development (HRD) Manager of an organization, at the request of the HR Director. This essay will provide a complete analysis of the current (HR) issues within the organization, by using past literature. The issue focused in this essay will be ‘discrimination and bullying’. The key purpose of the assessment is to present critical literature to the Executive Team.

In this essay, past literature will be used to critically analysis the relevant models and concepts, supporting the selected issue. Based on this, suitable solutions will be proposed for the HRD team to address these issues at the workplace. Therefore, this essay will serve as a strategic proposal for the HRD department, to solve HRD-related problems, in the future. Similarly, this essay will present the challenging situation to the HR Director and recommend that organizations should invest more in HRD, to reduce these challenges.

Importance of HRD in literature

Human resources (HR) plays a crucial role in the success of any organization. Past research has presented a positive relationship between human resources and economic growth, in the short term and long term (Nguyen, 2022). Many organizations, also faced human resource development (HRD) issues, after the economic crises of 2008, which raised concerns about the strategic role of HRD. HRD helps the organization in managing any unfavourable conditions, which highlights the aspirational role of HRD in organizations (Mitsakis, 2017).
