Assignment Details
In this unit, you have been working as a small group of consultants and now it’s time to present your recommendations to the client. Using the key information from Assignment 2A: Ideation report, in your teams, you are required to prepare a presentation to consciously and creatively communicate your recommendation/s or solution to the client meeting the following requirements.
Your presentation should:
- Clearly outline the final recommendations justified adequately with literature. Please note that recommendations need to be specific and action-oriented. Ensure these recommendations clearly relate to the Project Brief and are clearly linked to the outcome of your analysis.
- Include a well-justified implementation plan for the main recommendations. To this end, assume that the industry partner or client aims to execute your recommendations with immediate effect and prepare an implementation plan, i.e. implementation activities with timeline and person responsible for actions and/or activities, for this purpose.
- Include relevant information to support any schedules of human, physical and financial resources needed to drive the implementation plan that clearly relate to the Project Brief and are clearly linked to the outcome of your analysis.
- Highlight the key risks associated with the implementation plan that includes your assessment of the impact and likelihood of each risk that clearly relate to the Project Brief and are clearly linked to the outcome of your analysis.
- Briefly outline contingency measures and strategies to manage and mitigate the impact of each identified risk.
Presentation
The team presentation will be live to your client and each team member will be required to present a component. Your team will prepare the slides that relate to the presentation and these will be submitted through Turnitin. The actual presentation will require each member of the team to present their component to the camera whilst referring to the relevant slides. The slides will not be shown during the presentation as the focus will be on each team member’s presentation and how well you ‘sell’ your team's proposal.
Your team should endeavour to impress the client and focus on clarity of expression, a well-articulated logic and holding audience interest. Note the following:
- All consulting team members will deliver part of the presentation to the client, and attendance to the whole presentation session is compulsory for all unless other arrangements have been approved.
- This is an audiovisual presentation, so each member of the team must have a camera and microphone.
- Do not read word for word from a script or your notes. You are presenting to a client, so you need to be engaging and interesting as you 'sell' your proposal.
- You will have plenty of opportunities to practice to ensure that you coordinate your presentation so it flows between topics and presenters.
All teams will present in the one Collaborate session. Your eLA will record this session.
Presentation media, format and length:
- This presentation can be developed using any presentation-making platform that you are comfortable with, e.g. PowerPoint, Adobe Spark, Adobe XD, Canva.
- The use of graphics, tables and figures with explanatory text to convey your ideas is recommended and highly encouraged.
- You are free to organise the content creatively and succinctly within the presentation.
- The emphasis should be on clarity of expression, holding audience interest, and well-articulated logic.
- The duration of the presentation will be a maximum of 15 minutes.
Research
Underpinning all your work is extensive research drawing on relevant sources. This includes, but is not limited to, industry reports; academic publications (textbooks, articles, working papers); government reports; news regalia and authoritative websites. You must cite, reference and support your claims using Swinburne Harvard referencing style.
Please note: Given the format of this assessment, your group can use footnotes and/or endnotes to cite references in the body of your work, i.e. within the presentation slides, and then provide a full list of references in the final slide.
