Minutes of Meeting:
The meeting was very useful as some of the competencies I thought I had been brought to my notice that I need to improve in those areas. What emerged from the meeting were the competencies I need to work on further to improve my ability to lead and manage larger teams. I have been good at handling smaller teams. I was made to realize the need of delegation when interacting with larger teams. Delegation would help the team members to take up additional responsibilities of leading in smaller tasks and it would help them have increased sense of responsibility. It would also help them to understand the difficulties and intricacies of being a leader. I was given to understand that I needed to improve my communication abilities while addressing larger groups. It is probably easier to handle smaller groups for me. I may feel bit uncomfortable dealing with larger groups. I intend to take up a mass communication course later this year. It was highlighted during the meeting that my listening skills need to improve as it is important to understand others’ perspectives. By understanding others’ perspectives, one can communicate effectively by knowing their areas of agreement and disagreement. This will make for a customized communication to individuals having differing views and opinions.
- The meeting was very useful as was able to view my competencies from other’s perspectives. I got to know, which areas are to be paid more attention and how they can impact on my other skills and knowledge. The meeting helped me to understand the importance of competencies and helped me analyse my skill level in different competencies. One of the main realizations was that under improvement of listening skills I had to learn to listen to other’s perspectives.
