Complete the following workplace activities demonstrating skills and knowledge to lead diversity for a work area implementing the organisation’s diversity policy, fostering diversity within the work:
- Access and review simulated workplace policies and procedures and use the relevant diversity policy and procedures to undertake this task.
- Read the case study diversity scenarios of simulated workplace in appendix and analyse its diversity situations.
- Identify the work area or organisation that you need to apply diversity policy.
- Read the diversity policy in the appendix and write a feedback statement and make suggestions for improvement including Your assessment of:
- Currency of diversity policy and
- Efficacy of diversity policy
- Identify the areas of diversity policy you believe needs improvements and revise the policy and incorporate improvements. (consider policy elements such as policy statement, purpose of policy, definitions, procedures, and applicable legislation etc.)
- Identify training needs of staff’s respect for difference in personal interactions.
- Identify staff who are struggling to work with diversity and develop diversity strategies with measures to support them working with diversity.
- Develop a process to help staff working with various diverse groups and enjoy benefits of diverse work group in a work area.
- Identify at least four workplace complaints and develop complaints handling procedures according to workplace policies and procedures.
- Develop implementation plan including strategies to improve awareness of challenges experienced by individuals from diverse groups in the work team.
