Task Aim:

The purpose of this task is to present evidence of Professional readiness in relation to goals and teaching practices linked to Graduate Level Standards.

Task Requirements:

For this task you will prepare two (2) PowerPoint presentations of 10 minutes each.

Presentation - Part A: Teacher Performance Presentation
In the presentation you will present multiple forms of evidence to support your readiness to

teach effectively and independently as well as learn in ongoing ways. You are to:

  • State your two goals that you set during your 35-day placement and choose one of these goals to be the focus of your presentation. Focussing on your chosen goal, reflect on the strategies you used to improve your practice while on placement. You need to demonstrate how your goal and strategies are linked to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APSTs), current curricula (EYLF/VEYLDF), National Quality Standards (NQS), ECA Code of Ethics and the development of your emerging philosophy of pedagogical practice.

I choose two goals but one goal that I need to focus on my presentation isEncourage literacy and numeracy in children.

FOR EVIDENCDE- I had photos of literacy and numeracy that I will provide you, reading book – the very hungry caterpillar, I had a lesson plan for that as evidence. LET ME KNOW I WILL PROVIDE YOU, DUE TO CHILDREN PHOTO AT THE MOMENT I AM NOT SENDING BUT I HAD.

You should draw evidence from Form B Student-Teacher learning log and Form C Reflective Self- Evaluation Report. The presentation will involve feedback and questions from Mentors including Early Childhood Educators (ECE), University and peers. For Mt Helen, on-campus (MTH) and Online (ODL) students, the presentation is to take the form of a PowerPoint presentation that is presented in class, either on-campus or during ODL online virtual classes, (dates for presentations will be confirmed in class). Presenters should aim for a 10 min presentation with 5 mins for questions and feedback. A copy of your presentation PowerPoint - with notes slides, should be uploaded to the Assessment Task 2 submission portal.

Presentation - Part B: Play and Children's Agency Reflection For this presentation you are to:

  • Present your understanding and knowledge of the importance of play and agency in children's learning.
  • Reflect on how your understanding of play and children's agency has grown over your time of study in the M.Tech (EC) program.
  • Articulate how your understanding of the importance of play and children's agency links to your most recent copy of your teaching philosophy
  • Use evidence from your two years of study to support your presentation

The following criteria will be used to assess your presentations:

Part A - Teacher Performance Presentation (25%)

  • Articulates teaching goals and strategies that links to Australian Professional Standards for Teaching (APSTs), current curricula (EYLF/VEYLDF), National Quality Standards (NQS) and ECA Code of Ethics (5Marks).
  • Critically reflects on strategies used to improve practices and supports reflection with evidence (artifacts)from Professional Experience placement (10 Marks).
  • Artifacts selected are the student's work, demonstrate ethical practices, have a clear rationale for inclusion and are professionally presented (10 Marks)

Part B - Play and Children's Agency Reflection (25%)

  • Articulates and reflects on knowledge and understanding of the importance of play and agency in children’s learning (10 Marks).
  • Reflection links to personal teaching philosophy (5 Marks).
  • Uses evidence (artifacts) and early childhood research and literature to support the presentation (5 Marks)

Part A and B - Academic Conventions and Presentation Skills (10%)

Demonstrates academic conventions (e.g., accurate English grammar, spelling, sentence structure), accurate use of APA 7th Edition style both in-text and reference list (5 Marks) Considers presentation skills (e.g., clear audio, well formatted presentation slides) and presentation remains within specified time limits (5 Marks)
