For this assessment, you will analyse a ‘professional learning’ or ‘teacher expertise development’ challenge within your educational context using structured problem analysis techniques.  

• Examine the key components of effective professional learning and teacher expertise development through an analysis of a teaching and learning dilemma related to teaching and learning
• 2000 words
• 40% of final grade.

Work your way through the following steps and information to understand and achieve the requirements of this assessment.

Step 1: Problem identification (c. 300 words)

• Select and describe the professional learning challenge
• Justify its significance
• Describe the current impact

Step 2: Visual analysis (c. 300 words [equivalent])

• Apply at least one visual analysis tool
• Explain your tool selection rationale and how it has been used
• Identify the root causes using the tool

Step 3: Root cause analysis (c. 700 words)

• Examine the identified causes
• Provide supporting evidence
• Analyse cause interactions

Step 4: Implementation considerations (c. 700 words)

• Discuss the sequencing of implementation
• Consider concurrent vs sequential needs
• Identify the leverage points

Step 5: Connection to the literature (integrated throughout)

• Identify the points of intersection between your problem identification, analysis & implementation and the research literature on educational leadership, teacher expertise, student learning, as it applies to this subject
• Explore and explain how the literature provides evidential support for your problem identification, analysis and implementation
• Format according to APA7 style.
