Aide Jimenez Acct 102 Debra Schmidt 29 March 2012 Writing Assignment/ Personal Goals Setting goals, personally, always work for me in the short term because from time to time my goals are changing in order for me to achive them. Financially, my main goal for this year is to be able to pay for next school semester. I work part time and I am able to save enough money to pay for fees and books. But I also like to go out with my friends and have fun once in a while and it is pretty complicated and time consuming having to transport on bus everytime. For this, another goal is to buy a car this coming summer. After I have gotten my car, then I will be able to save up for a trip my friends and I have been planning to Big Bear this fall. And of course the Christmas expenses, that always take a big part in my budget. For this year my goals are set, next I will be changing them or probably during the year. My goals for the next two to three year are more general. I would like to transfer to Cal State Long Beach. For this I will have to save up money in order to be able to pay for the more expensive fees and books. By that time, I would also like to get somehow a scholarship that helps pay for this. I also plan to have a better paid job so I can start saving or probably paying to live on my own. For now it's all I want for the next couple of years. In the long term, I plan on living on my own for sure. Probably not owning a house yet, but renting a nice apartment in New York. For me, of course I want a good life with no debts and through with school. For my parents I would like to pay for a trip to Europe because it has always been my mom's dream. I would like to be able to help my brother to pay for his school. I probably would also be thinking to save enough for anything that seems necessary, like retirement, insurance, etc.
I have big goals for my life, but for now I will stick to reality and make a plan out of what I am getting from my actual job. I present a projection of the month of March rounded to dollars. Even though I can't do big savings, little by little I had been able to save $2,500 for my car. I don't expect a brand new car, but something around $3,500 I will be happy with. These past few moths I have been spending a bit more than I should in unecessary stuff. I should be saving in between $300 and $400 per month but it is almost impossible. Anyway, by this summer I will have enough to pay for a car. I still need to cut short in some expenses, if not I will have enough money to pay for my car but not enough for school. This would back me off few months. After I have bought the car, I know I will have more expenses but I don't plan on saving more money to pay a car, so with that money I will pay the new expenses. In fall I will be free of debt with school and with a new car, so I hope to have money to go on my trip to Big Bear and enjoy some vacation.
