Assesment overview

This is a research report where you will be conducting research on enterprise systems selection and implementation in the manufacturing industry. You will be assessed on your ability to compare and contrast different Cloud Enterprise Research Planning (ERP) vendors that you believe could be suitable for large Enterprises in the manufacturing industry.

Assesment details

This assesment is designed for you to demonstrate the following competencies:

• understanding and knowledge of enterprise systems principles
• understanding of issues that contribute to current debates in enterprise systems
• use of analytical skills in reviewing academic and practitioner sources
• ability to draw meaningful conclusions from your research.

The report is to be written to reflect your understanding of enterprise systems. It is up to you what aspects, issues or arguments you put forward, but they must be relevant to the enterprise systems field and grounded in current literature.

Task

You are required to write a report that covers the following points:

Part 1: Conduct research on critical factors when it comes to the (a) selection and (b) implementation of Enterprise Systems for large Enterprises in the manufacturing industry. You need to discuss and justify at least 5 critical factors for selection and 5 critical factors for the implementation of ERP in large Enterprises in the manufacturing industry. You need to justify your selection and explain why these factors are important. All claims and assertions must be adequately substantiated with appropriate evidence and must be grounded in current literature.

Part 2: Conduct research on the challenges of migration from on-premises to Cloud ERP and the suitability of multi-tenant public cloud versus single-tenant private cloud for large Enterprises in the manufacturing industry. All claims and assertions must be adequately substantiated with appropriate evidence and be grounded in current literature.

Part 3: Critically review some possible and suitable Cloud ERP solutions for large Enterprises in the manufacturing industry. Compare and contrast different Cloud ERP vendors (10 vendors) that you believe could be suitable for large Enterprises in the manufacturing industry. • Point(s) of difference:How are their products different from other vendors?
• Niche market:If found, do they target a particular market?
• ERP services:What ERP services does the suite offer?
• Business continuity:Does the vendor offer any plan for business continuity during a crisis, such as, for example, during the COVID-19 pandemic?
• Analytics: Does the product provide Analytics features or services?
• And any other dimensions or criteria you could use to make your argument richer.

Your report should be presented in this sequence:

• Executive summary.
• The body of the report includes the following:
  • Part 1: Research on critical factors in the selection and implementation of ERP.
  • Part 2: Research on cloud migration and the suitability of multi-tenant public cloud versus single-tenant private cloud options.
  • Part 3: Critical market analysis.
