Assessment Task

This assessment comprises two (2) parts. Firstly, you will investigate a current business and its micro environment and communicate your research in one (1) main discussion forum post. Then, you will need to reply to and constructively comment on two (2) other learners’ posts about their chosen businesses. Linkages to module readings and independent research are required for the three (3) posts.

Context

Key to this assessment, and your professional practice more broadly, is your ability to identify micro environmental factors as they relate to business. This assessment will develop your collaborative knowledge from reading, researching, and constructively replying to other students’ discussion forum posts to promote shared knowledge and a community of practice. This assessment will also develop both the academic and industry skills of critical thinking and research using reliable sources of information.

Instructions

For this assessment task, you must complete both Part A and Part B.

Part A

Step 1: Select a business

Choose a business based in Australia or overseas from the supplied list titled:

BIZ202_A1_list of companies_T2, 2025

It could be a business that you are interested in working for in the future or one that relates to your study specialisation.

Step 2: Research

Research and provide evidence to support your post using at least one (1) academic source from Modules 1–3 of the subject and one (1) non-academic source (independent research) with in-text citations and references following the current APA format.

The IBISWorld database is accessible from the Torrens Library and is recommended to assist you in researching the business. It can provide credible and relevant information to be used for this assessment.

Step 3: Provide a discussion forum post about your chosen business (400 words)

Your discussion forum post should address the following micro-environmental elements:

i) Background of the business – Introduce the business and identify the type of business it is, when it began, where it operates, which sector of the economy it occupies, and identify the current number of employees.

ii) Customers – Research and identify the business’s main customers in context of the micro-environment.

iii) Competition – Identify at least two (2) main competitors for the business.

iv) External stakeholders – Identify additional external stakeholders who impact the business within the micro-environment.

Step 4: Include a reference list

Ensure that your two (2) – one (1) academic and one (1) non-academic source – match with corresponding in-text citations following the correct APA formatting.

Step 5: Include a screenshot of your Assessment Integrity Self Check Report
