BUSM4550 The Impact of Subconscious Perceptions Tests on Personal and Professional Interactions

Online Help on Task

Introduction/overview

This reflection is based on my Implicit Association Test (IAT). It is one of the prominent tests in research using implicit measures. To perform this test, participants are supposed to take two tasks (Gawronski and Hahn 2018:3). This tool is also being used to raise awareness among students, about their unconscious biases and is used a s valuable tool in educational environment (Casad et al. 2013:118). Similarly, the teacher of course (BUSM4550), made us take this test. For this, I selected two task areas: Gender-Career, and Gender-Science. This test aims to measure the attitudes and beliefs of people, that are reluctant or unable to report. This test also helps in revealing any implicit attitude, about which we are unaware (Harris et al. 2017:2).

The key purpose of this reflection is to increase my awareness about my conscious and subconscious perceptions or biases. This will help me to analyze whether they are congruent with each other, on not. Secondly, it provides an opportunity to reflect on my past and current experiences that have contributed to my conscious and subconscious perceptions. Thirdly, this task will help in learning how my perceptions or biases may influence my interactions with others, in any personal and professional settings.
