EDU5TTP - Assessment 2: Art-based response with exegesis

Assistance on write an exegesis

Purpose/rationale

You have learned about the effect of trauma on groups as well as individuals and you have been introduced to Dadirri, a practice learned from Aboriginal Australian cultures responding to trauma. This task gives you the opportunity to action and critically reflect on your understanding of Dadirri, and gives you experience in responding to individuals managing trauma.

Assessment criteria

This assessment will measure your ability to:

  • Develop a deep and personal understanding through listening (30%)
  • Respond to understanding through art (30%)
  • Demonstrate understanding of Indigenous perspectives on trauma (30%)
  • Adhere to structure and formatting requirements (10%)

Task details

You are to practise Dadirri (listening with heart and constructing a personal response through art) when engaging with a provided case study. You are then to write an exegesis that demonstrates your understanding of the Indigenous perspective on trauma as narrative and explain your own insights into the practice of Dadirri.

Instructions

In the Week 3 learning content, you are asked to apply the practice of Dadirri when listening to Sheila Humphries’ story and respond to the story through art. You may choose to respond in any art form you wish. Some possibilities include dance, drama, painting, music, photography, drawing, sculpture, textile, conceptual or performance art.

Before the Week 4 workshop, you should video or photograph your art and upload it to A2 Padlet where your peers and lecturer will discuss the diversity of work and the impact of the story expressed through these pieces. This discussion will support you in the planning of your exegesis.

Your 2000-word exegesis will document and interpret your process of Dadirri. It should include:

  • understandings you developed through listening to Sheila Humphries’ story
  • your process for creating the artistic response
  • justification of your artistic choices using personal evidence and/or evidence from the learning material
  • reflection on the Indigenous perspective using personal evidence and/or evidence from the learning material.

You should format your work using subheadings. Your response to each section of the exegesis should be roughly the same length.
