Task Details

Students are required to identify a current and topical public health ethical issue (e.g., obesity, physical activity, mental health, infectious diseases, respiratory diseases, cardiovascular diseases, cancer/s, disability, asthma, bronchitis, future pandemic preparedness, occupational health and diseases, air pollution, residential greenness, neighbourhood walkability, addiction behaviour, hospital waste management, noise pollution, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) community, women's health, men's health, child health, adolescent health and ageing health, tobacco smoking, vaping, vaccination, ethics in generative artificial intelligence in medicine or public health) or if you work within a public health setting or in a selected community and a plan of action to address the issue and submit it in Moodle as a pre-recorded oral PowerPoint presentation. The presentation will consider the ethical aspects of the chosen public health issue from the perspectives of the public health professional, their population of concerns, and key stakeholders. This assessment also presents an outline of the ethics-based research proposal that spans all three assessments in this course.

Description:

Each student is required to prepare and deliver an individual prerecorded oral PowerPoint presentation on a chosen Public Health topic as mentioned above. The program should address a specific public health ethical issue targeting a particular population or community and describe that in an Australian or global context.

Please note: You will be required to complete Assessment Task 2 (critical essay) and Assessment Task 3 (ethics application) using the same public health issue that you have chosen for assessment 1. With this in mind, it is advised that you choose your public health topic carefully, i.e., one that is topical and current, one that might directly impact you (either professionally or personally), one that interests you and/or one that you think you might want to pursue in future practice.
