AIMS:
The purpose of this assessment task is to develop your knowledge and evaluative capabilities to determine what factors are responsible for delays in construction projects. In addition, you will learn about the basic elements required for developing a good scheduling system. This task requires you to discuss the validity of the statement “The future of the construction industry is digital, therefore there is a need to rethink the way we manage time in construction projects”. The essay will involve some research, analysis and communication of contemporary information relevant to the construction industry.

ASSESSMENT SUMMARY:
TASK DESCRIPTION
For this assessment task, you are required to work individually, although you are most welcome to discuss your developing ideas with your peers either face to face or through the discussion forum.
You are required to write a 1600 word essay where you discuss the validity of “The future of the construction industry is digital, therefore there is a need to rethink the way we manage time in construction projects”. An essay is different from a report and thus you will not use headings. However, your essay should have a clear structure that leads from one point to the next and supports and overall position of the argument. See ‘task advice’ below for help on how to structure your essay.
To ensure successful completion of the assessment task, the essay must include references to substantiate your argument. Examples help to illustrate a point being made. Thus where appropriate you can draw on specific examples of current practice in the construction industry to clarify your argument.
