Introduction

Tesla is an American electric car manufacturer that has pioneered the electric car industry with Model 3 and Model Y SUV. However, since 2018, the company has experienced challenges related to meeting its market target (Matousek, 2019). The problem is still affecting the firm in 2019 with the major challenges being ineffective customer service centres, delayed delivery of customer orders, poor financial performance, and inability to achieve its production target, as well as workplace concerns over employees’ safety (Siddiqui, 2019). Using system thinking tools, affinity diagram and CATWOE, this proposal provides a comprehensive system analysis of Tesla and recommend the best action/procedure to overcome the problem.

System Thinking Analysis

System thinking or system analysis is a way of viewing systems forms a broad perspective which involves seeing the overall structures, patterns, and cycles in a system instead of focusing on specific events within the system (Proctor, 2010). The system thinking approach helps in identifying numerous solutions to address many challenges within the system.

Affinity Diagram

An affinity diagram is a creative thinking tool to generate information about the problem or solution. This calls for a team of experts in different fields and with experience within the line of the problem. The diagram comprises a divergent thinking stage where team members brainstorm solutions or ideas about the situation (Widjaja et al., 2013). The convergent thinking stage brings ideas to form affinities. Finally, the ideas are grouped and the best alternative selected.
