1      RESEARCH  ON PROPERTIES OF MATERIALS (10 MARKS)

• TASK  DESCRIPTION

The goal is to write an individual 3000-word literature review on properties and applications of an engineering material (or a group of materials) on one topic chosen from a set list.

The report should cover the specific aspects and applications of the materials as appropriate to the selected topic. This should include at least three of the following items:

The topic of your literature review must be selected from the following list:

• EXPECTED  ELEMENTS

The result of the research will be presented in the form of a brief literature review—a maximum of 3000 words. Similar to any academic writing, it is advised to follow the general framework which is advised in the Academic Writing - Special Issue.

As a framework, a summary of the sections of a literature review is provided in Table 1. The following criteria must be met in the provided work:

• STRUCTURE AND FORMAT

• All the mandatory elements of a literature review must be present (see Table 1).
• Accurate grammar and spelling are
• Proper font, size, and margins are
• All the tables/figures are provided with proper captions, legends, units

• LITERATURE REVIEW  (ABSTRACT, INTRODUCTION   & METHODOLOGY)

• DUE DATE & PENALTY

You must submit the completed literature review by Friday 5 pm in Week 11. The standard penalty is applied for late submission as indicated in the course profile.

• SUBMISSION

To ensure that your literature review can be marked, each individual must submit the complete literature review—in a single pdf file—to Griffith College Portal: via the submission link for Project 3.

• MARKING

The third project will be marked based on the rubric provided in Table 2 for this individual work.

Note that the presented marking schemes are indicative only—every connotation is not represented and some academic judgement is made in the marking.

• RECOMMENDATION

Carefully analyse the rubrics, identify the criteria, and include them in your presentation. Obviously, failing to meet the criteria will result in losing marks. For instance, missing any mandatory part of the report such as the abstract will result in a poor evaluation for the literature review (abstract, introduction, and methodology) criterion based on Table 2, i.e., zero marks for 30% of the assignment.
