What is Research ?
Research is the process of enhancing our level of knowledge. In many ways research can be seen as a process of expanding the boundaries of our ignorance (Goddard & Melville, 2007). In more simple language we explain research as a process of investigating in detail about a particular thing. The basic component that generates the desire for research is curiosity. Our luxury life full of amenities is the result of ongoing research work being conducted by scholars, scientists and educationists.
Research is what we do when we have a question or a problem we want to resolve. According to Thomas (2004), in general, researchers aim to find out what is happening and why it is happening to describe, to explain and to understand. Some research are done to find out how something happened or existed whereas some research are done further improve the benefits of a product or service.
Almost every individual do some kind of research in his daily life, it could be for better job, food, university or residential area. We rarely follow the guidelines to do the research but instead depend on the research done by others that recorded and made available for public. Internet has eased our life by providing multiples of resources for any research work. The resources available on internet are also the research work accomplished by others. Certain steps are to be followed to conduct any research, a valid logical question, curiosity, clues and resources are the elements essential for any research work. One way or another, all of us have benefited from research.
