Task:
The purpose of this task is for students to consider policy and research literature on classroom management, to apply selected management principles and practices in a specific context and to report the outcomes of this application. In undertaking this task, students will develop insights into some theoretical underpinnings of effective classroom management and that these insights will form a basis for continuing development as an effective classroom practitioner. Students are required to specifically address the following:
- Describe a range of verbal and non-verbal communication strategies to support student engagement;
- Describe strategies for organising classroom activities and providing clear directions;
- Describe practical approaches to managing challenging behaviour;
- Describe strategies that support students’ wellbeing and safety;
- Describe key principles that meet professional ethics and responsibilities for the teaching profession and comply with legislative, administrative and organisational requirements.
- Justification of classroom management strategies and principles with reference to relevant scholarly literature.
