Equivalent 2000 words
Due date: 31/07/2019
Weighting: 50%
Instructions
For this assessment, students are required to:
- Write a paper linking the observations of three case study children to a theoretical perspective. (Three (3) different theoretical perspectives must be demonstrated.)
- You must attach all three observations as appendices to your paper, they are not included in your word count but must be provided so it is possible to view the evidence of learning you are referring to and the link to the theoretical perspective you are claiming.
- Discuss the evidence of learning in the observations and the implications for intentional teaching and curriculum development.
- Relate findings to the learning outcomes in the Early Years Learning Frameworks.
- You must provide an explanation of how the observation is linked to the theoretical perspective you are claiming.
- You will need to provide information about the theoretical perspective itself to evidence your sufficient understanding of it. This does not mean you are writing a paper about the theoretical perspective, merely demonstrating your understanding of it and how the observation relates to it.
- As with all academic writing, you should assume your reader is ignorant of the topic and you must state the obvious. You are also required to provide supporting evidence for all your points. Your interpretation of the theoretical perspective is not accepted without the supporting reference from an expert.
- Ensure all information is well presented referenced correctly.
TCS 201 Teaching and Learning Theories
Name:
Learning outcomes:
- Identify traditional and contemporary theories of teaching and learning relevant to diverse early childhood contexts and to diverse learners in early childhood programs
- Discuss key findings from current research that contributes to new understandings of early childhood education
- Interpret the theoretical and research evidence for play-based learning as a key component of early childhood pedagogy
- Interpret the pedagogical principles of early years learning frameworks and their implications for practice and programs, with a focus on integrated teaching and learning approaches
- Identify a range of strategies that could be used to assess and document children’s learning outcomes so that they are made visible and can be shared with children, colleagues and families/caregivers
