Activity 4A

• Role Play Activity
• Get into pairs and label yourselves Person A and Person B.
• Task 1
  Person B is the client and Person A is the worker.
  Person A needs to demonstrate how they can use positive and supportive communication to promote the self-esteem and confidence of Person A.
• Task 2
  Person A is the client and Person B is the worker.
  Person B needs to demonstrate how they can use positive and supportive communication to promote the self-esteem and confidence of Person A.

Activity 4B

• Why is it important to use safe and predictable routines?
• Give examples of different aspects of a safe and predictable routine.

Activity 4C

• What are the benefits of social interaction?
• Give examples of different social activities that you could encourage your clients to participate in.
• Give examples of cultural and spiritual activities that you could encourage your clients to participate in.

Activity 4D

• Outline 3 aspects of supporting a client’s wellbeing that would be outside of the scope of your knowledge, skills and/or job role.
• How would you deal with this? What support would you seek?

Activity 4E

• It is your job to identify variations to a client’s wellbeing. Give examples of these variations.
• If you were to identify variations, how would you report them?

Activity 4F

• Give examples of cultural issues that may impact on the wellbeing of your clients.
• Give examples of financial issues that may impact on the wellbeing of your clients.
• Choose one of your answers from the previous questions and outline how you would handle it.

• What are risk factors?
• Give examples of risk factors of clients in relation to mental health.
• What are protective factors?
• Give examples of protective factors of clients in relation to mental health.

• Give examples of the different signs of abuse or neglect.
• If you were to identify one of the signs above, how would you report it?
