Help the climate, help yourself – work to walk!
Friday 1st February 2019 is marked as ‘Walk to Work’ day, an event initiated by Deakin University to encourage walking traditions among the staff and students. All participants of the campaign will have access to free goodies and breakfasts on the day, if they grab this opportunity that promotes exercising, healthy habits and cleaner air among Australians.
Federal Health Minister, Annastacia Orr will officially inaugurate the occasion through a short speech promoting healthy alternatives and maintaining fitness.
The walk will start from six spots around the city every 30 minutes starting from 7:00 a.m. that proceeds to the university. Usain Bolt Olympic Champion will be appearing as a special guest with other DU athletes who will run a full 5 kilometers circuit of Burwood in the morning contributing towards the campaign.
As stated by the Australian Pedestrian Council, people who prefer to walk before and during work are considered to be healthier and more productive. Looking at this perspective, people will not be absent or opt for sick leaves during work and will eventually tackle matters of obesity relieving depression and anxiety. Moreover, this campaign will also be promoting a safe atmosphere with least gas emissions.
Due to the busy schedule, people find it quite difficult to fit exercising in their routine. Nonetheless walking is the most flexible and effective option that can be availed to increase productivity without much of a hassle. Therefore, this campaign will be really helpful to initiate healthy atmosphere among the people. It will also reduce car dependency making it environment friendly with zero pollution for the people.
101 Beans will collaborate with Deakin University to promote Walk to Work day as they will have portable coffee stalls located along the routes for the participants. Each purchases made at the stall will be considered as a donation to Homeless Refuges Australia.

Walk to Work Day at Deakin University, Friday 1st February 2019
Friday 1st February 2019, Deakin University with other sponsors will initiate a Walk to Work day for the faculty members and students of the university promoting a healthy life and clear environment.
The walking initiative claims to promote a healthy lifestyle among the faculty and students promoting a cleaner environment by helping the climate with low usage of transport.
The event will be inaugurated by the Federal Health Minister, Annastacia Orr followed by a short speech on the initiative.
Special appearance of Olympic Champion Usain Bolt will be made during the session with other athletes, participating on their ends towards the cause.
101 Bean will be present as sponsors during the event, providing donations to Homeless Refugees in Australia through their coffee sales during the campaign.

Overview
People are considering social fitness and health as a growing phenomenon but it becomes quite difficult to manage and fit gym, exercising and athletic activities in their schedules. Therefore, walking and exercising habits need to be assimilated among the people to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Campaign
Starting from a very minor task so that people are used to such sporting and athletic activities, Deakin University came up with an initiative that promotes walk to work among the faculty and students on a local level. This way, the target population can feel responsible about their physical wellbeing and environmental protection through the campaign.
The campaign encourages faculty members and students to walk from various spots within the city to the university, promoting healthier and cleaner environment. An important announcement during the campaign will be made where a major chunk of government funding will be provided for Deakin University’s sporting facilities. Moreover, special appearances such as former Olympic champion with other athletes will be there to reflect the importance of walking habits among individuals.
The event is organized in collaboration with many sponsors as they all have a common interest to promote healthy lifestyle and cleaner environment. Deakin University has collaborated with a food joint that will be providing healthy breakfast to the participants on arrival at the university after the walk. Moreover, a shirt from another sponsor will be considered as a giveaway to participants. 101 beans will be selling coffee on various spots of the walk pathways to the university, every dollar from coffee sales will be allotted as donations to homeless refugees of Australia. Fitness and wellbeing staff will be present all times during the walk in cases of emergencies and medical problems.
