DP that renders customers with a right to demand and the improved quality level provides a good customer experience and standardization leads to reliability and relevance to the customers. The customers are provided with world-class reliable services and maintaining of valuable relationship being Australia a customer market and makes DP a market leader.
Things that Impressed you the most:
The company has diversified and expanded to covering 60 countries and 6 continents in a very short period of time with its quality services and has attained a goodwill by catering to the needs of the consumer market in Australia by making huge imports.
The staff and the management is immensely pressurized for achieving excellence of operations which at times creates discrepancy in the effective and efficient function of the corporation as much more dependency on the manual and labor leads to subjectivity and inefficiency.
Areas of Improvement :
The Dp world is enjoying duopoly with Patrick and have strong global presence and connections which can support the company to increase its exports which are at present scanty. The hindrance and mishandling of equipment’s within the organization could leads to costly affairs to Dp World leading to impact on company’s performance adversely.
Aspects of supply chain management or relationships with customers and suppliers were evident
The Dp world was working in amalgamation with the Port of Melbourne which was situated at the north of Port Phillip Bay and handles container and general cargo port around 37% of the nation’s container trade. More than 100 nautical miles of shipping channels are being, managed by the port and provide services with more than 40 shipping lines handling around 7000 containers per day. The Dp world supplies the vessel containers via barge and cargo. The Dp world has maintained fair relationship with the customer by providing them trustworthy quality services via importing massively to cater to large Australian consumer market.
Logistics services
The Dp world is at straddle point and the vessels are loaded and unloaded situated at its designated area and hold up the TEU’s and put them in a staging area and the cranes offload each TEU at a designated area.
The straddle carriers pick up the TEU and put it on the truck when the corresponding truck or train reaches the location point. The straddle carriers off the truck/train or staging area take the loaded TEU’s to the crane at the time the vessel got empty. The TEU is picked and placed by the crane at the allocated area.
Observations about the staffing of the logistics facility and its impression:
The logistics personnel were highly committed and dedicated to their tasks assigned as the functions related to filling the containers loading them from the straddle point and placing them of TEU at their designated points .The disembark of ship requires punctuality so tasks are carried out with utmost efficiency and effectiveness.
Challenges faced by the company:
It was observed that A major issue that different size containers that are being utilized in Australia in which 20ft TEU is favorable for exporters trading mainly in grains and metal ores but importers prefer 40ft TEU which led to a situation of disparity and rather than loaded vessels forces the empty containers are forced to load vessels to be able to return the unused TEU’s so they lack in making profit from each container.
Conclusion
Dp World out of all companies visited has been an amazing corporate experience in analyzing the key performance indicators of the company in form of its employees and the way company has expanded and outstands itself in 20 years within the Port of Melbourne has been remarkable.
Company 2–TOLL

Toll has been functioning in air, sea, rail, air and road based in Australia and is scattered over 55 countries. Toll is a privately owned warehouse or distribution center that make one time delivery to reduce costs, shorten the time of delivery with a purpose to acquire a collection of the same order and serves to differentiate packed goods into boxes and shipped to the stores of those companies. The segmentation of items into small and large delivery to the common areas of the business is also catered by Toll.
Your reaction to what you saw. Connection with any preconceived ideas, understanding, etc
Toll is catering to bridge the gap between place of production and place of consumption by providing storage facilities with excellent storage, transportation and distribution services.
Logistics / supply chain insights
Toll is providing excellent transportation and warehousing facilities using modern technology of logistic operations. Toll In2Store DC transports products to retailers at a frequency that does not raise a need for retailers to keep many inventories. Toll acts as the link between manufacturers for retailers and also caters to both as a Warehouse of Nike.
Logistics services that are being performed “in-house”
Toll In2Store, is also popular as outsources or Third Party Logistics Service Providers (3PL) as it is generally an external service provider that receive the products from each manufacturer and stored in their warehouse. The goods shipped are received from the manufacturer in DC that involves unloading by parking truck. This transport of goods from the manufacturer to park and lift into DC is supposed to be this place and then those products to be stored in warehouses are transported by Dc that signifies a rack of narrow mattress with multiple rows vertically.
Areas of Improvement:
A significant technology must be developed to handle and manage materials and inventory by Toll In2Store and Nike Retail DC as t he present implementation of Toll majorly includes manual labor or simple tools and equipment for transport, involving the use of a stock card to control the products store in and products out of the storage facility. These errors can be minimized using high technology to establish control in warehouse management. Another improvement involves expansion of the unloading products area as the area is relatively small that can causes a problem in peak period.
