Task Details:

Students select an instance of discourse, either from the provided list of texts or from their own interests, and use this as the basis for an analysis and interpretation of the text, with three distinct tasks:
Identify the social and institutional context of the discourse and link this to key ideas in discourse analysis:
Discuss the generic structure of the text, or provide an explanation of genre features of the text, using interpretative strategies covered in the subject;
Using a chosen method of discourse analysis, such as conversation analysis, critical discourse analysis, or another identifiable method, identify textual features of the discourse and what they are designed to do. This should then be linked back to the social and institutional context of the discourse.
