This task is about demonstrating your understanding of applying models to appraise the external environment. In relation to the attached case entitled ‘The US Airline Industry in 2018’ (from Grant’s Contemporary Strategy Analysis, 10th edition, pp.403-414), please answer the following:
1. Assess the attractiveness of the US Airline Industry in 2018 using Porter’s 5 Forces model and any other models you consider relevant. Include a diagram in your answer outlining key points. What are the main challenges facing the industry? (60%)
2. Consider whether and how profitability can be improved in this industry looking forward? (30%)
3. What have been the limitations you faced in applying any model(s)? (10%).
