Detailed Task Requirements

  • Select appropriate routers and switches
  • Cable all devices as indicated in Figure 1
  • Assign IP addresses to all devices as indicated in Table 1
  • Configure SW1 as a VTP server, SW2 as a VTP client, use the VTP domain Solar & VTP Password System
  • Create all required VLAN’s on switches SW1 & SW2, name the VLAN’s, put relevant switch-ports into the VLAN’s
  • Create a LACP Ether-channel between SW1 & SW2. SW1 active, SW2 passive.
  • Create any trunk-links that are required for full connectivity
  • Configure RoaS Inter-VLAN routing on R2 & R3 (this must be configured on both routers in preparation for HSRP)
  • SW1 must be the STP root bridge for VLAN’s 100 & 101, SW2 for VLAN’s 102 & 103
  • HSRP Active / Standby on R2 & R3 must produce the output in Figure 1 – show standby brief
  • Enable preemption for active HSRP routers
  • Configure Multi-area OSPF to provide full connectivity across the network, all non-router-to-router
  • links/interfaces should be passive. Do not use routing protocol peering between R1 and the ISP router.
  • By default R4’s loopback networks will appear in R1’s routing table with incorrect /32 prefixes, they should have the correct /26 prefix. This will require some research in order to fix. Ensure that R4’s loopback networks appear in R1’s routing table with /26 prefixes.
  • The final task is to ensure that there is only a single summary route for the four 192.168.X.X LAN’s in R4’s routing table. By default they will appear as four separate routes, see Figure 2
