• Identify ten example preferences a client may have relating to their care.
• For each:

1. How would you identify this information?
2. How would you confirm it?
3. How would you record it?

• Write an example of a procedure using the framework given in chapter 2.1:

1. Explaining what the procedure is
2. Explaining why the client needs it
3. Explaining what will happen during the procedure
4. Asking if the client has any preferences
5. Answering clients’ questions and addressing their concerns
6. Confirm that the client understands and that they are happy.

• Choose any procedure and include aspects you would cover to ensure that the client was fully informed and can confirm the plans.
