Question 4

The objectives of this project are to:

1. Identify if hospital inpatients are informed about the risks, benefits and alternatives of treatments when commencing a new medicine that is expected to continue on discharge from hospital.
2. Determine if there is an association between patient’s necessity and concerns around new medicines and their engagement in decision making around commencement of new medicines.
3. Identify if patients are provided education to allow them to safely continue medicines on discharge.
4. Identify if patients are more likely to be informed about the risks, benefits and alternatives of treatments for specific groups of medicines such as high risk medicine groups
