Housing Reflection Assignment Help
How did you approach the Housing Reflection problem? What did you do? Reflective Writing
Drawing my interest to the contemporary trends in the world such as the world demographic and lifestyle with a specific focus on the lives of people in America and Europe, I investigated how individuals tackle the housing problem. I noted a trend where people opt for tiny homes or convert shipping containers or trucks into homes. Based on these findings, I explored this housing alternative as an ideal approach that Australians from the lower class, lower middle or middle class as well as fresh graduates can utilise as their homes or a temporary resident as they save or build permanent homes. I was inspired by the prevalence of tiny and container homes in other parts of the world. Therefore, I explored the solution with a positive insight drawing the benefits which are economic, social, and environmental.
I adopted an investigative approach that considered the benefits of the housing alternative chosen with a focus on its economic and environmental impacts. With extensive research on similar programs and comments from individuals using similar facilities, I realized that the tiny homes and container housing are a modern trend used for homes and businesses across the world. Moreover, I realized that container houses are used as adventure homes. These findings helped to prepare the report that uses facts and supported by research to illustrate the effectiveness, affordability, and benefit of tiny and container homes.
How did you feel? Overloaded? Stressed? Calm? Why? Please elaborate
Initially, the assignment felt overloading and stressful before settling on the specific type of home to explore. With choices on tiny homes, containers, and truck homes, deciding on the home that best fits my idea of affordable and comfortable housing for a specified target population or segment was a challenge. However, when I settled on the tiny homes and container housing, I felt calm, confidence, and interested to complete the task since it was an ideal opportunity to learn more about what others are doing to adapt to the contemporary challenges of housing inadequacy and cost.
At first, I was not sure of finding adequate evidence to support my selection of tiny homes as a viable alternative to the increasing housing crisis in Australia and other parts of the world. A focus on contemporary perception about housing where a majority of the people dream to have big homes and TV programmed and advertisements focus on luxurious homes almost misled my attention. In contemporary society, emphasis on large luxurious homes has dominated the masses with the description of individual ideal homes being far from reality. When I shifted my attention to the people in the lower class and fresh graduates from the middle class, I realized a significant housing gap that can be effectively filled by tiny and container homes.
What strategies or lesson learnt did you apply in completing the housing reflection assignment?
In completing this assignment, I used a strategy that emphasizes environmental sustainability and economic affordability to develop semi-permanent or temporary houses for individuals saving to acquire bigger houses and to address the increasing problem of homelessness in society. This is an informed strategy that draws on data about the number of homeless people especially those in the lower class and middle lower class. This goes hand in hand with the increasing cost of housing and population. The tiny homes program is a strategic approach that addresses homelessness in society by ensuring people have a place to stay reducing the burden of homelessness such as diseases. Additionally, it is an environmentally sustainable project since it does not use many natural resources.
I also used a lesson on the demographic changes and innovative ideas used to address the demographic and economic inequality challenges in contemporary society. It is evident that the cost of housing is increasing making many people homeless due to inability to buy or pay the high annual rates for rental homes. Therefore, a focus on an alternative housing plan yielded the popularity of shipping container homes which are affordable and convenient.
If you could do the housing reflection task again, what would you do differently?
If I had a chance to do the assignment again, I would still focus on my topic but provide more evidence on the affordability and environmental benefits of the selected alternative. In particular, I would illustrate how shipping container houses are changing the world by demonstrating using videos and images of how people around the world have turned shipping containers into homes. I would also find samples of these homes in Australia to affirm that my argument is valid and practical. Additionally, I would illustrate how other countries have adopted the tiny housing program as an immediate problem to the housing crisis.
I would also focus on the economic benefits of shipping container homes by developing their adventure prospect further. This would entail examining how shipping containers are made as a tourist destination or holiday homes by individuals who seek adventure since they are transportable. This goes hand on hand with advocacy for truck homes as an alternative especially for individuals seeking adventure. Although the truck homes might go off topic if included without care, I would emphasize their importance since a majority of homeless people sleep in their cars. Therefore, I would focus on how trucks can be customised into homes for individuals in transition. For example, individuals moving from one city to another in search of jobs can use truck homes before acquiring a permanent home.
What did you learn from this experience? How could you apply your learning to your studies/career/life in general?
I learned that housing is a universal problem that needs a solution to reduce the number of people suffering from homelessnes or living in poor houses such as slums. The world population is increasing and the standards of living rising fast that people are unable to purchase or rent houses. This calls for the government, nongovernmental agencies and individuals to intervene and find a solution to the problem. Evidently, innovativeness is important in addressing human problems as it has provided tiny homes and shipping container houses to address the housing problem. Therefore, I will use this lesson to be innovative in my studies, career, and life when handling personal, family, or work-related challenges.
