1. Cover Letter
Write a letter of application to your employer organisation from Assessment 2. You will base your letter on your Position Description from Assessment 2. Note the following:

1. As you are not a graduate, you will use this position description as the basis of a speculative letter of application to this employer, seeking a similar role suitable for someone at your stage of study (e.g. a placement, internship, vacation work). Note: if you are in your final year or semester, you may apply for as a graduate.
2. You must address four of the selection criteria from your Job Description in the letter.
3. Provide a full version of your Position Description and the employer’s web address, followed by your letter of application.
4. Draw on the lecture content, Cover Letter Quick Tips, sample cover letters in Canvas and the marking rubric as guides for the structure, format and content expected

2. Resume (VMock Assessed)
Your mark for this section of the assignment will be derived from an online resume assessment tool, VMock that utilises the same technology used by large recruiters to shortlist candidates. Based on international industry standards, the tool will give you instant, detailed feedback on how to improve your resume’s impact, presentation and content.

1. Register on the Swinburne VMock platform by going to www.vmock.com/swinburne
   Note: You MUST use your student email account to register on this site.
2. Develop an industry specific resume that targets jobs related to your discipline or occupational interests. The resume should complement the Cover Letter element of this assignment.
3. Use the lecture content, the Resume Quick Tips and marking Rubric listed below as guides for the structure, format and content.
4. Upload a pdf version of your resume and use the feedback to gain maximum marks out of 100. You have a limit of 10 uploads.score for your resume.
   Note 1: Students who have completed Career Start and have used their 10 uploads can use their highest score for this assignment (provide screenshot).
   Note 2: Students intending on completing Career Start later this year as preparation for a Professional Placement or Professional Internship, you will need to ensure you reach a VMock score of 70% or better to qualify.

3. LinkedIn Profile

1. Develop an industry specific LinkedIn profile that conveys your emerging professional identity – professional interests, values, intentions and strengths you bring to the work context/clients. Your profile should be tailored to your target occupation.
2. Use the LinkedIn Higher Education site and marking Rubric listed below to guide the structure and content.

Make use of the resources in Canvas and the Swinburne University of Technology LinkedIn site to view examples of Alumni profiles. Note: the quality of profiles is variable.

4. Interview Question and Response

1. Use your Position Description to design ONE interview question that directly relates to one of the selection criteria.
2. Write a script for your own response to the interview question.
3. Ensure that you provide a response that demonstrates your practical application skills and knowledge and relevant experiences (including university and non-university). Use the STAR structure as a general guide.
