Introduction:

Management is a fundamental phenomenon and essential to any educational institution and is mainly concerned with four main standards of classroom – space, time, participation and engagement. Classroom management needs to be controlled because it has both negative and positive effect on both students and teachers. The essay will first describe teacher role in effective classroom learning, that it will further discuss students responsibilities and it will be claimed that the new methods are more effective in classroom.

Definition:

Classroom management took multiple meanings and concepts but many believes that classroom management represents a range of activities that the teacher seeks from which to create and provide descriptive dominated atmosphere, positive social relationships between the teacher and the students and also between the students themselves in the classroom; therefore the concept of the classroom can be defined as the management process that aims to provide an effective organization and through the provision  of all the necessary conditions for the occurrence of pupils learning effectively.

Teacher Role:

Teachers play an important role in the development of any society, as they are responsible for managing, controlling and leading the classroom that in turn help students to better understand their responsibilities and perform their roles effectively,

It won’t be wrong to say that teacher quality and teaching quality go hand in hand (McGill. M et al pg. 5).

The role of teachers doesn’t have just one simple duty to perform but it comprises of various activities and responsibilities, from developing a curriculum, to planning for practice, engaging and organizing a learning environment (McGill. M et al pg. 213). The planning for learning process is a multi layered, complex process, where a pre service teacher main responsibility will be to plan small group contexts to whole class lessons. Along with planning a curriculum, creating and managing a learning environment in a classroom that is engaging as well is another main role of a teacher. According to Mackay, 2006 for teachers to be able to manage their students effectively and maintain the environment of the class effectively they need proper knowledge, understanding and must be proactive, have to think ahead so they are prepared for any unexpected situations in class. On some instances teachers usually involve their students in creating various kind of displays and letting them set up the physical space.

By creating and making such activities happen in the classroom it creates an engaging environment, students feel more motivated and indirectly help their teachers to perform their roles effectively (McGill. M et al pg. 266).

Students Responsibility:

As far as students are concerned they are equally responsible for maintaining a good environment in the classroom, along with their responsibilities to respect their teachers and school property, they should and must stay active in the classroom that will create an engaging environment for teachers and students.

To ensure that students behave responsibly in their classroom there are two independent reasons for that, first it will help in shaping the future of students as a better individual in the society, secondly if students are not engaged properly than even the most potential lessons may fail to have the desired outcome from them (Lewis, 1997a). From student perspectives it is important that the obey the class rules, do their homework, respect their fellow students, participate in various discussions, should show up in class on time and be prepared for the upcoming sessions, know what will be discussed that will help teachers to effectively deliver their message across and must also respect the school property. Students must learn that individual rights and responsibilities are considered as social phenomenon in every community, indicating that one must listen when someone else is speaking, work quietly, raise your hand when need help and respect the personal property of others. (McGill. Pg 366)

With the help of students, the overall educational environment can be successful only if the students are motivated to work hard, keen on studying and are willing to accept their roles and responsibiliteis (Rust. W pg 76).

New Methods:

Most of the teachings strategies are mainly depend on a range of support services; with the latest development in technologies most of the educational organizations have adapted new methods of teaching.

Some schools and universities have facilities for the use of study carrels. Almost every institute is equipped with latest and up to date technologies that not only consist of computers, but encourage students to participate in online courses, group discussions, in more like a virtual environment (Rust. W, pg. 169). In a practical environment, institutes are encouraged to do experiments based on the seating arrangements where there are various options like horseshoe, seminar, circle, and story type seating arrangement available (Wright T, pg. 308). Such practice of arranging the classroom space is considered as effective ways of teaching, depending on the class size, nature of study and time duration. Even utilizing the vertical space in the classroom is also considered as an important aspect of classroom management and majority of the teachers are encouraged to use the full space of their board, make use of sticky notes on windows, encouraging students to give presentations on the regular basis, all these methods are considered as improved and new methods of teaching.(Wright. T, pg. 324).
