Assessment Task 2: Literature Review Development
In MRSC4080 you will complete a Narrative literature review, this assessment will focus on the introduction and literature search for the review where you will concisely state the question, conduct a review of the literature, select the relevant peer reviewed articles and write the introduction for your literature review.
(This task does not require a comparison of the articles or a conclusion or answer to the question)
Step 1
Finalise your question based on the topic you have select
Example: Topic – CT in prostate cancer
Question: Is dual energy CT an effective tool to identify primary prostate cancer in patients with elevated PSA?
Step 2
Finalise the effective search terms and appropriate databases for your question
Step 3
Conduct a search of the literature and identify appropriate peer reviewed articles which will provide information relevant to your question.
Step 4
- State your question
- Write the introduction for your narrative literature review based on your research and the literature the search identified
- The introduction should articulate the problem, who is affected and address the elements that underpin the question.
- In the example above this will include the aetiology and demographics of prostate cancer, the primary tool currently used to identify prostate cancer, Dual energy CT and PSA.
- Remember, it is an introduction and each of these elements would be examined more closely and where relevant compared in the body of the review.
