Thus, to address this descriptor, you will write a report that shows that you understand what is meant by literacy and numeracy and how these appear in a secondary school discipline.
You should organise your response in two parts:
A. Explain what is meant by literacy and numeracy and why it is important to develop these skills across the curriculum, for all teachers, not only those who teach English and Mathematics. (700 words approx)
B. Choose a particular secondary school discipline and identify some of the literacy and numeracy demands found within the syllabus and texts that are used to teach that discipline. (700 words approx)
