Your DoppelMe is a great way to express your personality and communicate with others on the internet. This visual online identity puts a friendly face on your internet presence and best of all, you can quickly update it depending on your mood. You are not limited to the internet either and can download your avatar to use in documents, greetings cards, letters…the list is endless.
Inspiration(Mapping)
On the same day, we also created mind maps using Inspiration. This is a great way of incorporating ICT in class, and I recognize that we should be using technology and encouraging students to use it. However, I found it confusing to use. I think I am more comfortable with my own strategy of arranging ideas on a piece of paper. However, I will encourage students to use it, as it will most likely be very useful for some of them, and as new technology, they should have exposure to it in order to be competitive. Overall, this workshop was a great learning experience for me. Some of the programs and sites were very useful sites, and although I had concerns about several of them, I would still love to incorporate these in my classroom in order to make lessons more meaningful and to engage students in active learning.
Brochure using
The next program, Microsoft Publisher, was impressive; I liked its use of humor as well as its capabilities.
It si a great to improve your writing and reading as well as develop knowledge .
Publisher is included in higher-end editions of Microsoft Office, reflecting Microsoft’s emphasis on the application as an easy-to-use and less expensive alternative to the “heavyweights” with a focus on the small business market where firms do not have dedicated design professionals available to make marketing materials and other documents.[1][2] However, it has a relatively small share of the desktop publishing market, which is dominated by Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress.[1]
In Microsoft Office 2007, while most of Microsoft Office apps adopted ribbons in their user interface, Publisher retained its toolbars and did not adopt ribbons until the next version, 2010.

The online protection of children is a shared responsibility between the ABC, the parent/guardian and the child. The ABC aims to ensure that children and young people (under 18) who engage with our online spaces understand the possible risks they face and how to minimise them.
When contributions are sought from, likely to have been submitted by, or include children and/or young people (under 18), the ABC will, where appropriate, seek the consent of a child’s parent or guardian before using a child’s contribution on ABC platforms.
Parents seeking appropriate content for young children and advice regarding information regarding online safety can find the ABC’s children’s online destinations at

Zimmer Twins

I also learned about the software Zimmer Twins, and after using it, I realized that it is a good starting point and can play a role in improving students’ levels of engagement. They can create a movie from a storyboard, and it is an interesting way of maximizing learning.
The Zimmer Twins is a site devoted to kids and creative storytelling
the Zimmer Twins has invited children to create and share their own animated stories.
Wordle
Important one it’s good for brainstorming
Could be a bank of words , link many words that associate to the fields you interesting in or some thing
I found Wordle very useful for building students’ skills in the areas of identifying ideas, brainstorming, and improving language skills.
Overall, I found the workshop for day one to be both useful and enjoyable. I had the chance to learn about a variety of programs and increased my knowledge. It also was useful because I learned about innovative technology that will assist me in my future work.
The images you create with Wordle are yours to use in any way you choose. You may print T-Shirts, business cards, brochures, what have you.

CREATE AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL COMIX
At the beginning of each new school year have students create an autobiographical comic strip talking about themselves and their families or summarizing the most important things about their lives. Let each student select a cartoon character as a surrogate to represent her or him. After students complete their strips, encourage them to exchange their comics with classmates to learn more about each other. Students can also create strips that summarize what their individual interests are to help a teacher to learn more about them. These autobiographical comic strips can become the opening pages of a daily comix diary that students can be encouraged to keep throughout the school year. For more information about the concept of a daily comix diary, go to: MakeBeliefsComix.com Daily Comix Diary.
- Have students create a comic strip story using new vocabulary words that are being taught.
- Having students fill in talk or thought balloons for different cartoon characters helps students practice conversation and offers a way to practice language structure and vocabulary in a meaningful context.
- Have students who are learning new foreign languages write their text in languages they are studying. In addition to English, the site accepts characters and accent marks from languages such as Spanish, Latin, German, Italian and Portuguese. Additional languages will be added to the site in the future.
